The Author C. Edward Rose
The author of this site, C. Edward Rose, is Professor Emeritus of Medicine at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. He graduated from medical school in Kentucky where he grew up. He met Karren Young from El Paso, Texas while in medical school, and they were married in his last year of medical school. They moved to Birmingham, Alabama for his residency and clinical fellowship training. It was through faithful pulmonary attendings that Ed understood the Gospel and received Jesus Christ in 1976. Following two years of research training at the University of Colorado in Denver, he and Karren moved to Charlottesville, Virginia in 1979. While there, he was a pulmonary and critical care medicine physician for over forty years. After retiring in 2021, he continues to practice medicine in a free clinic in central Virginia. He and Karren have two children, Katie who lives with her husband Russ and two children in Charlotte, and Charlie who lives with his wife Melissa and four children in Lexington, Kentucky.
C. Edward Rose has served as an elder and taught numerous Bible classes in Denver and Charlottesville. And he and Karren continue to lead Bible studies. He began to engage in medical mission teams in 2000 as part of a group from his church that traveled to India for two weeks. After that, he was part of an otolaryngology surgical team that went to Santa Cruz, Bolivia. Since then, he has traveled multiple times as part of a medical brigade to San Pedro Sula, Honduras with their son Charlie, who is also a physician.
His passion is to share the Gospel and disciple men to become mature Christ-followers who themselves make disciples. He is currently working on a book, Unrelenting Pursuit, which is a guide for using God’s means of grace He provides for spiritual growth in order to make disciples.
